Hydrangea Class

I was asked to teach a hydrangea class for the NJ Decorator's club in August, but the class filled up so quickly that we added a second one in September! Here is a mix of pictures from both classes. Thanks to all the talented ladies who took the class, and thanks also to my lovely assistant Joshua :o)

Fashion Night Out in New York City!

Cathy and I are both huge fans of Project Runway and we love anything related to fashion. We were asked to participate in New York City's annual Fashion Night Out, in which many of the city's fashion designers and retailers stay open for extended hours to give their customers a glamorous and elite shopping experience, all while collecting clothing and donations for the NYC AIDS Fund. We were honored to donate hundreds of these fashion-inspired mini cupcakes to the event. Unfortunately, neither of us was able to attend any of the festivities, but we hear the city was buzzing through the night! This post is long overdue, but a few months back Cathy was asked to teach a class on how to make a fancy fondant lady for the NJ Cake Decorators Club & she had a great time! Here are some of the fancy ladies & their talented creators. Thanks to all the ladies for making it such a successful first class :o)

Small Works, Big Idea!

Jacy Cakes artwork was on display for the "Small Works, Big Idea" exhibition at the APW Gallery in L.I.C., NY this weekend. The theme of our pieces was of course Cake, Art, Fusion & here are just a few pictures from that night. Thanks to those of you who came out to see what we made, and for the well wishes sent to us from our out-of-towner friends- hopefully you"ll be in town for the next one!

Devin's 8th Birthday

IMG_3146wtmkIMG_3139wtmk

This past weekend was Josh's niece Devin's 8th birthday, and, as tradition has it, we made a fantastic cake for the occasion! Her theme was a Mexican Fiesta, so we decided to make a broken pinata with candy spilling out and various fiesta-inspired sugar items surrounding the cake, including a cactus "8", a pinata stick, maracas, and chili peppers! Devin was so excited to see her cake--we kept it a surprise from her until the day of the party, and when she first saw it, her jaw almost fell to the floor! We are so happy we got to make this cake for Devin and that we helped make her fiesta a success!

Out Professionals networking meeting

Cathy and I just got back from a Networking meeting of the Out Professionals group, and we had such a blast! We met so many fun and interesting people in all different industries, from accountants to graphic designers, maritime lawyers to bed-&-breakfast owners. Such a fun, diverse group of people! Andrew had his "coming out" in his new position as Director of Public Relations, and let me tell you, he did an amazing job! If he were on the payroll, he'd definitely be getting a raise! But of course, he's not, so he'll have to stay content with getting paid in cake scraps :) We can't wait until the next OP meeting!

Roulette wheel cake!

roulette wheel cake casino cakes

We made another casino-themed cake this week, this time in the shape of a roulette wheel! It was for our friend Erin's future brother-in-law James. Inside was our delicious chocolate brownie cake and cookies and cream buttercream. We had so much fun decorating this cake and we wish James a very happy 30th birthday!
